The ways to view or modify the settings for cookies, scripting, and other options are slightly different in the various versions of the various internet browser programs you might be using; therefore, we can not give you detailed instructions as to how to view and set these options. You should, however, be able to click on the "help" topic on your main task bar and then search the online documentation for your specific software to find "cookies", or "scripting", or other relevant subjects.
Sometimes it helps to delete the cookies and the cached web pages that your browser might be storing. That gives you a "fresh start". Though the steps to accomplish that may be different for different browsers, they generally go something like this: click "Tools", then "Internet Options", then click "Delete Cookies", then "Delete Files". This is normally a safe thing to do and might be the easiest way to fix many problems.
NOTE1: as of March, 2004 a Member Status window is created when you log in. The small window displays your name, expiration (renewal) date of your membership, and tests for scripting and cookies being enabled. It will display an ERROR message if it detects either feature disabled. It is not a perfect test, as some problems can disguise themselves, but it should be about 99% reliable in determining if your computer's configuration is correct. NOTE2: If you have Windows XP on your computer and are considering installing, or have installed, Service Pack 2 (SP2), please read this Article first.
If you have checked these things and still have problems, contact us by sending an email to "membership @ RentHouses . org". Note that the spaces in the preceding email address should not be entered when you send the email. In order to defeat web crawlers that extract email addresses from web pages to add them to spam lists, we do not place our email addresses intact in any web page. On pages that include a link for emailing us, we use a JavaScript routine to assemble the address, but since this page is for persons having technical difficulties, a JavaScript routine might not work, so we simply are displaying the email address in human-readable form for you to type into the "To:" box of your email message.
